Hello, new to the forum. Came across this while reseaching these vessels. My dad was on the USCGC W371 Mackinac during the late '50's. I'm going to try to do the Mackinac based on all the great work done here. Mackinac had the balloon hangar and the towing rail on the stern end; I am trying to figure out how the bow and bridge were configured. I came across the 1/350 resin kit and could not believe it even existed. Great work and thank you for all the photos, scratch building ideas and reference material.
I am entertaining the idea of passing on my old Back-Aft Models venture. I would hope that there is still some interest in this class of ships in 1/350 resin.
My conversion sets were based on the Iron Shipwrights, Inc. 1/350 kit of the USS Mackinac AVP-13.
I cannot see myself getting back to these old efforts, again.
Anyone who would be seriously interested in taking on such an endeavor, themselves, should expect to travel to my house to pick up the inventory listed below and receive an introduction to it all. I might even entertain the idea of giving up my large pressure pot. I also have a collection of various other ship modeling related masters and molds.
