Russian warship launches SSMs from Sevastopol

Post by Haijun watcher »

Headed for Ukraine?!!! If it's the Slava class cruiser Moskva, I never realized that its P1000 Vulkan SSMs could be used for land-attack roles.

No. Both "Slava" are in the Mediterranean to strike at the Sixth Fleet of the United States. This is a small rocket ship.

Thank you for that piece of intelligence Alexey, I trust that the GRU will give you a firm smack on the bottom for giving what is probably classified information over the Net. Unless of course it is "fake."

More simply, Slava class land/surface-attack missiles don't fire vertically. Only surface-to-air missiles are fired vertically on that class.
