Major update:

UK Defence Journal
British company Babcock wins Polish frigate competition
By George Allison - March 4, 2022175

British firm Babcock has won the Polish frigate competition. Poland has chosen the Type 31 Frigate design, known as Arrowhead 140, for their future frigate class.
The Type 31 frigate was designed by Babcock International and is also marketed under the name Arrowhead 140. The Babcock design is based on the hull of the Iver Huitfeldt-class frigate but with significant modifications and changes to suit British requirements.

Babcock International has been selected as the platform design provider and technology partner for Polands MIECZNIK (Swordfish) new frigate programme and has today concluded a set of strategic cooperation agreements with the PGZ-MIECZNIK Consortium, which is responsible for the delivery of the project from the Polish side.

It will be interesting to see how Poland equips these ships. The MoD has said that the UK ships will be designed "for, not with" the Mark 41 VLS. They will also have no anti-ship missiles as the Harpoon is going out of service next year (and is probably already unusable anyway.)

First Look At Polands New Miecznik Frigate
Tayfun Ozberk 10 Apr 2022

On April 8, PGZ Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa) unveiled the first drawing of the Arrowhead-140PL frigate, which is similar to the Royal Navys Type 31 frigates but optimized for Polish Navy requirements, at a press conference in Gdynia, Poland, to publicize the latest status of the project.

The photos from the conference indicate that it was a small-scale conference where primarily the systems of the future frigates, the infrastructure investments required for the implementation of the project, and the design features of the ships were presented by the project managers.
