I note this set is only $7.55 CAD - that's really cheap! Does Hobby Easy usually hit you with a big shipping charge? ie; would their shipping charge = 2x, or 3x this item's cost?

When weighing up the cost of purchase, shipping rates are always something to bear in mind and not to be overlooked.

As an aside, I get most (all ??) of my 1/700 models from 'dawngrocerystore' in China and, with regard to FlyHawk, Very Fire and Meng, just to name a few, they provide free delivery here to the UK, which makes the price hard to beat.

However, as an interesting footnote, delivery from that same store for Trumpeter, Hobby Boss and others attracts shipping costs.

A bit of a puzzle really.

Good point! I've bought all my Flyhawk kits, whether 1/700 ships, or 1/72 armor, from various Chinese ebay stores - usually auroramodelshop, sunlightmodelstore, or wearworld, and a few others. I shop around those few stores for the best price. Usually the Chinese vendors have the best prices, by far, compared to any other country, by sometimes as much as 50% cheaper. However, it did puzzle that Hobby Easy (Japan) has the upgrade set for Flyhawk Zumwalt much cheaper than any Chinese vendor. I noticed several new ebay shops today that require further investigation.

Yes, most ebay Chinese vendors are reliable, and anyway, ebay guarantees your payments. I only once, in the last 10 yrs, got ripped-off, by a price that looked too good to be true. But since payments are guaranteed by ebay, I was eventually refunded, and the shop in question was kicked off ebay, due to other nefarious sales.
PS; Globaltoy may have some good prices, but I've noticed the other above-named stores often have much better prices - I guess it all depends on what you're looking for!

Yes, many interesting kits - ok, mostly not plastic, but resin or 3D printed - are not available from the mentioned shops. Globaltoy and Hobby Easy are in that regard better.

One of my favorites was "Downgrocery", but unfortunately he doesn't ship to my location anymore - don't know why!

I went on the Stevens International website and saw that the 1/700 Trumpeter 1942 Belfast will be released in August for $64.95! 1/700 Trumpeter Calcutta will be released in September for $49.95! I think I�ll wait with these prices and get them cheaper on EBay or at a hobby contest show.

GlobalToy is one I have bought several of the Fivestar Models� SEED Hobby�s Resin Ships. They make what are �smaller ships� in either the IJN, or in the various other Nations in the Dai T?a Ky?eiken (or ??????; i.e. the �Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere� ��BTW, the Kanji breakdown of the �Dai T?a Ky?eiken/Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Field� is interesting in the implications of the individual meanings of each Kanji, and the Chinese Hanzi, especially when you break them down into the Ideographs and Pictographs*).

The kits are great for what are �one day builds,� given that the ships are typically between one and two inches long in the 1/700 scales. Some are a bit longer, approaching the size of the Kamikaze-class Destroyers of the Mid-War period. Like the HIJMS Tsukushi Survery Ship, the HTMSThonburi, or the HMMS Kashi (The previous HIJMS Kashi, Momo-class Destroyer, of WWI Vintage). These are 4� to 4-�� long, and that tends to be about the top-end in the size of the ships, with most being between �� and 2� in length.

But GlobalToys have gotten me some pretty decent deals on these, where I have been able to get a free model when I buy two or three models of the SEED Hobby�s Resin Ship kits.

This is kind of like someone writing a book in English about the Syllables of a Linguistic Root, like ?Geo, where they explore how <Ge> and <O> might have originally been <Ke>, <Ki>, <Ji>, <Je>, <G�>, <K�>, etc� And <O> might have been <Oh>, <Ooh>, <?h>, <uh>, and so on, and then write an entire library on how each vowel or consonant shift occurred, and what it �meant.� Ironically, that is just as common as the Chinese and Japanese obsession over Hanzi and Kanji, just that in the west these things are far more obscure than in Asia..
