Common terms and FAQs of this game.
Whores: word used to describe a concentration of skill in one area, ie, Torp Whore, for someone who uses torps and torps only, without guns.
High Angling (HA): Use of guns to shoot above 45 degrees (hence raising the angle of the gun will get you shorter range). This technique will give you more experience, and is extremely effective against deck armour. Ships generally used are Atlanta and its remodels, along with County using 8" duals. The best American gun for HAing is the 5"/54 L. 2.5 second reload time (and that's only if you have low level gunners) enables you to spam rain of death upon your foes.
Ns, Ls, Ds: N-type guns have average reload time and range, L-type have longer reload but longer range, and D-type have shortest reload but shortest range. You will generally use the L version if you're CL or higher, unless you don't have the gunspace.
Overall most powerful nation ingame: British. Their uber armour (better than anyone else's), powerful guns, and decent range makes them own every other nation (exception when facing HAing ships like Oakland/Atlanta).
Update: Best nation in the game is now Kriegsmarine. Range is everything, which is what the KM has. Although lack of gun choices (11" for level 55 and onwards till H39 at level 90-ish because it has the longest range) may reduce the amusment factor.
REPLACING MUSIC:
Go into your Navyfield folder, then go to 'SOUND'.
File names for music played and when it's played:
Battle.cxf is the music when battle starts.
US.cxf, etc. is the music of its respective shipyard.
To replace the music played: copy a music file that you like, paste it into the 'SOUND' folder, rename it to whichever name fits the location it's played (ie, from 'lalala.mp3' to, say, 'US.cxf' if that's what you want to replace.). Make sure that the extension is also changed.
If you can't see the extension (.mp3;.cxf), go the 'Tools', then 'settings'. Go to advance, then check the box that says 'show extensions'.
NOTE: Replacing game files is not supported by TeamNF, and they are not responsible if your computer gets screwed up.
Will be revised if I think of more.

Ill add to that.
I'm glad Timmy has seen how good the brits are, but theyr gun range is nothing to shout about so be careful.
HA: you can use the HMS Sirius (remodel of HMS Dido) with the 5.25" twin guns, if your the brits.
Nation strengths:
UK: as mentioned, armour and firepower. also repairing and restoring abilities.
US: AA. otherwise pretty average. (correct me if im wrong here).
Japan: Torpedoes. also aircraft carriers, you get your first carrier very early on.
Germay: guns. longest range most accurate gunerry in game.
Nation weaknesses:
UK: as mentioned, poor range on guns
US: pretty average, no specific weaknesses (correct me if im wrong here).
Japan: not very good gunnery
Germay: guns have range, but generally less hitting power. i think armour is less effective also.

Since the game is in beta, lots of things change, sometimes by accident it appears.
Some things to add:
Brits have decent range on 8" guns, and the ability to block shot, but move slow.
US at its best can blockshot very late in game.
Japs have ok gunners but their armour is basically useless by far the worst and almost as bad as a neutral, but up to CA they have decent speed and the cl/ca 7.9 and 8"guns have good range, only have 2nd restorer ability.
Germans have great range on guns.

btw vlad, yorkies range usn CAs, the nevada is the worst bb1 in the game, and the usn does NOT have aa as a strength. our best gun, the 3"70, is pwned time and again by km guns, and the 3"70 only fits on half our ships. we are constantly ranged and outrun until bb4 or oakland

lol. go to http://www.trainworld.us to find the golden angle for a specific gun. once u kno that angle, u will be able to swat planes out of the sky like cubone with his bug spray (AKA cubby's AA whore oakland).
