I measured 11m Motor Launches. In 1/700 their length will be 15.7mm

Hasegawa's = 15,7 mm
Rainbow = 15 mm hull + 0,5...0.7 mm with details

I put the Flyhawk frame on the boats...
Upper photo - 11m Motor Launch
Middle photo - 12m Motor Launch

Flyhawk... :Mad_5: :Mad_5:

Then I assemled all davits, gangways and Hasegawa's chrysanthemum
I prepared for painting PE sloop outshoots

Today I finish work with Flyhawk PE detail set
Next will be work with Rainbow resin paravanes, scratchbuild flagpoles, some details at main mast (topmast, gaff), propellers fences and training gun
So, next week I want to start prime and paint model
Airplanes and resin crew will be made after the painting model

Super clean modeling, especially at this scale! What's your assembly method for the PE? Solder or some kind of glue?

Thank you!

My method is simple:
- super cheap super glue CA
Image
- small needle to apply a glue
- TAMIYA HG Angled Tweezers 74047
- first build a model in 1/350 with PE and only after that - model in 1/700 (hand skills and eyes adapts to smaller sizes)

Incredible, incredible work. The needle applicator, once I figured out I needed it, was a godsend for modeling in 1/700.

Part of me doesn't even want to see this painted. It masks all the hard work you've put into it.

Chris, unfortunately painting will hide all the beauty of PE, resin and scratchbuild.
But that's life and it would be better if the model will be painted, rather than vice versa.

Painted model looks nicer than unpainted (my first and at the same time - the previous model)

?urrently my model of Haguro consists of more than 1250 parts. And their number is growing by 10-20 parts per day.
For example - my model of Russian battleship Sevastopol 1/350 consists of 2200 parts

Thank you Marjin!

- assembled platforms at aft
- scratchbuilt aft anchor davits using wire 0.3 mm
- scratchbuilt fencing of external propellers shafts using wire 0.3 mm and 0.3 mm PE rings
- scratchbuilt flagpoles with running lights using wire 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 mm and 0.3 mm PE rings (for example you can see original PE flagpoles from Flyhawk)
- scratchbuilt some pipes on each side of the superstructure using wire 0.3 mm and 0.3 mm PE rings

Unfortunately, due to the purchase of real estate and renovation I have to suspend the construction of a model for a couple of months.

Dan K, J. Soca

Don't worry, the delay will be only a few weeks.
I will try to build on a little bit. Not everyday, but sometimes
Model must built for the World NAVIGA Championship at September...

Continue build
The first free evening for 2 weeks

I love experimenting
In the model, I decided to make deck canopy (tent) with out canvas. Only tent struts with rigging.
I never saw this decision on other models in 1/350 and 1/700 scale

Scheme of this deck canopy from Gakken
Image
This scheme is confirmed by photos of Haguro in 1928-1935
Image
So, I bought Rainbow PE 7093 Flagpoles and Deck canopy
Flyhawk has similar PE set, but Rainbow's quality is much better

For model I will use 40 small onboard struts and 6 bigger struts at centerline. This detail set doesn't contain bigger struts. So I will make them from details of flagpoles.
Image
Image
And one more tallest strut at centerline near aft flagpole I made himself from wire (at photo - left of the match)

Image
Using Rainbow PE rings 0.3 mm I made mount boats to sloop beams/davits

Then I will put scans of new detail sets which I bought for the model
Now, I have 32 detail sets for this model :woo_hoo: :woo_hoo:
