Sorry Matt i didn't update anymore . OK little update , my package with the detail set for the Arizona got lost

.... yes i am a lucky guy .
little bit frustrating but unfortunately this things happen so for now i will not do any work on her . I had to pick up a new kit from my little stash .
The winner is a old kit from hasegawa , 1/700 Hikawamaru / special hospital ship .
i made some research online for some detail set and the only one i find is the one from Hasegawa itself .
I will post later some picture of the Work in progress .

Daniele,
Sucks to hear about the Arizona, but looking good on the Hikawa Maru so far.
The Delaware is progressing slowly but progress is progress.

Little update on the Hikawamaru ,
i made a wash with oil colors and also if i waited 24 hours after the last paint job i noticed that the red cross and also the underwater red line start to fade away , maybe i should have waited a little bit more or i need to use acrylic next time .
strange because i use to do also a lot of figures in 54mm and i always use oil color to wash and it never happen .
Anyway , i also tried to scratch build the fore mast ., and i am not happy with the result so i will try again .
thanks Matt , in the while they find my package and its safe at home now , the eduard PE set look great for the Arizona now i just have to stick on this Hikawa Maru ..but the temptation is big

Matt,
Your Delaware looks great and I don't mind the slow progress as long as we get pictures of it.
Daniele,
Your Hikawamaru is also coming along nicely. I like the foremast and look forward to seeing it's replacement when you have that one finished.
I'm almost done with my Indy and will start on the Chevalier soon. I ordered some more paint for it and it should be here in the next couple of days.

I completely forgot to update this. Scharnhorst isn't one of my usual HOLY DETAIL builds. I need a break. Seriously.
PE:
- Lion Roar AA guns.
- Brass barrels.
- Tom's and Eduard PE.
- Flyhawk masks.
That's it. Easy. Simple. Oh, and I added some detail to her superstructure. Nothing crazy. The water will be a different story. I'm also trying sprue again. Consider this old girl an experiment.
Don't laugh. It's not very good. The Wood Hunter deck SUCKS. The damn thing came to me more wrinkly than a pug. Repeated attempts to reset it make it look worse. Oh, the manufacturer also cut it to the unassembled hull, which sucks. Overall, my experience with this wood deck is suck. I'll be painting decks from here on.

Thanks Gordon, I will try to push through. My intention was to get all of the Samek WWI battleships, after this I have reconsidered and will await Niko or Combrig to do them or I will just go back to 1/350. Got a little done tonight, I am trying a different approach to my assembly sequence by working everything forward heading back to the stern. The biggest time sucker tonight was that infernal crane, it's still not done but at least the kit supplied parts are together. I just need to scratchbuild the searchlight platform now which shouldn't be to big an issue. Scary thing is I still need to build another for the starboard side
Chris and Daniel, both builds are looking great, I wonder who finish first. Bonus points for getting there with your sanity!
Looking forward to everyone's updates.
Matt

I got a little done on the Chevalier this evening and now I remember why this build was put
on the ignore shelf. Too many small parts to deal with. No wonder my hands hurt.
More progress made by priming all of the small parts. The paint I ordered for this build should be here Tuesday the 28th.

- The ship is now ready for some paint.

Can I still join? It'll be good to have some motivation. TF48, I see your Samek USS Delaware and raise it with one turret, going full USS Wyoming. Build was started week and a half ago, and I agree with the pitfalls you mentioned. Also, my mainmast somehow didn't conform to the rolling shape provided and ended ever so slightly *off*, but that'll be hidden by the platforms.

Things are looking good, folks. I like the Scharnhorst!
Here's some of today's progress on the Wyoming:
added random boxes and lockers.
added PE hatches to hatches
scratched a barrel cleaning ramrod in front of the A and D turrets
redid the big cranes
threw out all the kit-supplied searchlight, don't know how to replace them yet
modified the 5" guns, and replaces them to conform to period photographs and not the locator holes
modified the bridge deck: it should run from the conning tower to the point where it starts to overhang, also photographs show a small-calibre gun there.
added the boat chocks from a WEM set.
Lots more little bits (rangefinders on high turrets etc) to add.

Chris,
Your Scharnhorst looks great. The deck looks ok to me in your pictures so I assume you were able to over come the problems for the most part with it.
Daniele,
Your Hikawa Maru is also comming along nicely. I must say that it is a very colorful looking build.
Matt,
Your Delaware also looks great and comming along nicely. I like the looks of the old ships.
MichelB
Your list of things you got done today is very extensive and look great. Your Wyoming is looking good.
I'm enjoying seeing the work that you all done and look forward to more progress pictures.
I received my replacement paint today and will get started paint the Chevalier in the next couple of days.

The USS Chevalier now has some color.
Tonight I was able to spray some Haze Gray paint on to about 90% of the pieces that need to be HG.
I only missed three parts tonight. I"ll get them later on.
I used Testors' New Acrylic Semi-Gloss paint and I'm totally happy with the results. It produced a nice smooth finish and covered the pieces very well. I added a little SG semi-gloss white to tone down the HG and also added a couple of drops of dish soap to the bottle.

Wow, this is really starting to get some momentum now. I am really hoping to call the Delaware done by the end of this weekend.
Keep the pics coming!

Some more work. First and second bridge platforms added. I also added blast bags and breakwaves. For a few moments I seriously considered adding spotting rifles just ahead of the blast bags, but then felt it would be too much.
I found the masts a little plain, so I added rings to them, made by twisting metal wire around them.
Since this, I've removed the boat chocks cleaned up the area around the crane masts. Also, I seem to have lost some of the 5" barrels... Work on boats continues off-screen. Hope to have her finished before monday, when the dreaded Work begins again.

Daniele, love your Maru. I like seeing some the auxiliary ships getting love.
Gordon: Neat ship, eh? I have a Gearing that I'll be building at... some point. I had a good time with the Chevalier.
Scharnhorst is on hold for a pet project. I'm hoping to get an update posted tonight or tomorrow. I'm stilling trying to figure out how I'm going to repair damage done to her when she fell.

I spent 50 minutes tonight masking the Chevalier so I can paint the decks. I should have the whole ship masked by Friday and get the decks painted on Saturday morning before I go to the IPMS meeting.
