but ..I don't only use the drawings....also pictures to confirm or un-say the drawings
only problem is.....most pictures I found are from before 1940 with the big triangular forward castle...the one they took off because it caught to much wind
and having lived 6 months on a sailingship....I can believe that
very few pictures are from 1944 or after....and then most are from far...not good enough to see details...
so I admid using other scale models on the web and compare.
the on this site, scale 1/400 from Stein Gildberg and the previously mentioned 1/144 scratch build from russclark are realy nice around 1944 models and they inspire me wher I donno...not doing same...I'll try to give it my own touch lol
I spend at the moment more searching on the web for details than actualy working on it lol
but ...it will pay off finaly

I'm doing the cap ....lets say I'm trying to redo the cap from scratch...bending plastic myself....I need to wait min 24H before checking on it....
some stuff just need time to settle...and harden

DavidP wrote:don't work on the funnel til I send you the 1944 Scheer drawing so you have a proper view of how to correct that funnel without any bending.
ok...I have seen your plans....its not 1944 version, it says 1942....when I look at pictures from 1944 ...the cap is way bigger than on your drawing..an other thing is the extra aded rear platform- AA gun on your drawing is in the middle....I have seen pictures where its not centered, but slightly starboard...
this is getting more difficult to do as I thought lol
a certain moment you just have to do as good as you think is best....

DavidP wrote:look at the bottom picture under the 1942 as it states 1944 as the stack cap is taller then the 1942 version.
The funnel cap was enlarged in 1941 then it was unmodified until the ships loss

on this bridge +1 level belongs a AA gun...so I build a WEM flak vierling....not easy and not many pictures of finished product (so here is one unpainted)
when placed...I think my acces on floor door should be on the sides instead of front middle

DavidP wrote:that darker grey plastic block is the wrong shape according to that picture & the bulwarks(walls) is the wrong shape as are the 2 sponsons as they are square shaped in the picture not rounded in the model part.
mmm...not sure what you mean....for the roundings of the bulwarks...it might be that the picture isn't Scheer but graf spee....as I have seen a picture with roundings...or say I think they are...but the drop of hight in the bulwarks are faster than hellers ...I designed on pic
