This fantastic build continues to amaze me - outstanding work, Andrew! BTW: how's the temperature in Moscow? We have had wind-chill in the minus 30's here. Lovely.......at least my dogs love it

No one on the street, 9-days New Year holidays
All celebrating the Orthodox Christmas. Only husky want to walk

Install some fixing rings on the hull (Rainbow), PE propellers fences and fairleads (Flyhawk)

And screwed the hull to the stand using screws.
The hull is complete!

Re: Hasegawa 1/700 IJN Haguro - building from Myoko
This week, I made the following things:
- Installed chrysanthemum
- washed fairleads
- installed handrails and tubes on funnels (using photos)
- bought Rainbow PE 7023 handrails, because Flyhawk's didn't have all necessary handrails (top handrails were missing in the Flyhawk detail set). This PE is 37th aftermarket detail set for my model. Total cost of aftermarket for my model is 400$.
Rainbow handrails much better, accurate and thinner than Flyhawk's
You can see the giant difference between them

Unfortunately, I installed all Flyhawks handrails before buying Rainbow handrails.
So, the current condition of funnels is...
Not better for me, but it's macro. 19 hours I spent making them.

Today I want to paint them and wash some details.
And after that - install funnels on the deck!

Looks good to me Andrew, even though I'm always a bit sceptical about doing the funnel railings this way.

They're pretty good. Did you hand paint the grab rails on the funnels?

Re: Hasegawa 1/700 IJN Haguro - building from Myoko
I translate from Japanese to English text under many photos from Gakken and over japanese books
And I find interesting photo, dated in February 1942
This photo from video, which taken from Nachi, and we can see Haguro. There was at Staring Bay (Sulavesi), close to the south-east from Kendari
Map of this bay - http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=-4.03 ... -Wawosungu

Using this history http://www.combinedfleet.com/haguro_t.htm
we can explain that Haguro was at this bay only 2 times in February 1942:
6-10 february before landing at Makassar
21-24 february before Battle at Java sea
I think that this photo was taken at 21-24 february
Why?
Because we can see deck canopy between superstructure and 3rd gun turret. I think it's a bad idea to install deck canopy when there were battles on the island and it is not all occupied.
Sulavesi Island was all occupied 10 February 1942. So, calm anchoring at Staring Bay (Kendari) may be after 10 February.
And at this photo we can see:
- mantelets at AA-guns, superstructure
- Aichi E13A1 Jake in IJN Gray (Mitrubishi) paint!
And this photo of Haguro was taken 6 March 1942 at Makassar after 2 battles at Java Sea

So. My model will represent Haguro in the period 21-24 February 1942 on anchor at Staring Bay before Battle of Java Sea
