Hi Raul,

Zinnia's pictures were put on a server which disappeared, and I unfortunately have no back-up anymore.

May I suggest you to take a look at another topic of mine, where I speak about a little merchant steam ship, "Proteus", the boats having been built the same way as Zinnia's, even if not explained thorougly:

It's now for about one year I didn't touch anything...

I'm following now, with my wife, three years of evening school to become painters. We learn to draw/paint and we also have some "Art history" lessons. Retirement is within 6 years for me, I have to be prepared for it

two paintings I did in school, quite na�ve, I know, but I'm learning for it. First one is oil on canvas, second one is oil on paper glued on a MDF board:



My main focus should be to become a "ship's portrayer", I painted the following portrait of "Proteus" two years ago when we did a little course by a painter at Brussels:

I also bought myself a new toy, I sold my old beaten up 1975 Chevy to get this:


Life is too short, I'm 47 years old, becoming a teenager again.



And to accomplish my complete burial, I still have that *#�&% 1967 wooden sailboat that desperatly needs a lot of TLC:

So, as you see, no time for modelling whatever I would like to.
By the way, just got from a German fellow modeller a wonderful shipyard plan from the Flensburger Shiffbau Gesellschaft, dating from 1889, of a German emigrant ship for the european-australian run via the cape, running under sails & steam, being 333 feet long. Yummie, my fingers get itchy!

Great to see you Laurent, very glad you are doing really fine and really thank you for sharing all those pics. Nice toys - I have very same interests - sailboat in 1:1, motocycle, modelships but only in my dreams so far - glad I can see a fine example to learn something for my retirement for which I yet have to work very hard

Love your pictures, as a shiplover - Proteus especially of course

Whenever your finger itch become unbearable so you decide building to pacify it you shall know you have an audience to see the result of your approach which I really like - practical, simple and with beautiful results.

Laurent, I saved a lot of pics of your model of Zinnia, I have 9 folders of the model saved in 4 backups in my computer and DVDs.
One of these files are the entire pages as pdfs ( pdf format ) of the first 6 pages of this thread.

thanks for the comments!

my fingers are itching, I would like to start again a new project, I have a few in mind (1911motorship "Selandia" shipyard plans are in), or I have such envy to continue my 1/100 Lusitania build, to be ready for her 100th sinking anniversary.

I continued my paintings, my last one here:


this painting has been done at the painting school evening course, the direction we got from the teacher was to use a screen shot of a movie/documentary, I remembered the 1953 "The cruel sea" movie, so I took a screen shot on youtube, the scene when the corvette goes to throw the depth charges while sailors are into the water. I called this painting "a tribute to Monsarrat", dimensions are 40 on 40 centimetres, oil on a panel primed with rabbit glue gesso.
