Hi gentlemen!
Sorry about my absence for a while.. I am very grateful for the support, and the fact that some of you don't let my-so far biggest- project be forgotten! I got bogged down in the details again..I know , I know: I should just finally slap that island on there , paint up 3-4 crew members, and finally call it complete!
- I still do not have decals for my Intruders and Corsairs. And this is a pretty big road block. Aside from mark Tutton ( at starfigter) I don't know anyone else who would even consider taking on custom decals, and have the quality that he has. I am getting pretty tempted to start making my own decals, but : all that equipment and time for a single sheet? And I don't even have a clue on how to use a computer program for creating decals... I have all the decals for my next 10 projects for the next 15 years, so I would literally be learning all that stuff for ONE decal sheet.... so there is this, aaand:
- The Island: "unfortunately" I acquired great reference photos AFTER I built the island, and it turns out there are a bunch of extra things I need to add, and some things need to be modified.(Heavily). Compared to the rest of the ship, the island is pretty inaccurate in its current state. But this part is easy, just need to sit down and do it.
-elevator number 2. This needs the least amount building time, but the most amount of thinking and precision, for it just needs the cables added, but I need those cables straight, perfectly vertical, and not to be 2 dimensional. Again, I have a plan, I just need to glue my ass in the chair, and work on this elevator!!
But then life happens, and I finally left a very stressful job for one where I am happy now. Plus the local airline I work for on the side finally secured all the funds and the hangarspace for me to paint one of their Hawkers, so a lot of my "spare time" has been going into that. That's nothing like modelbuilding
BUT BUT!! the real culprit is that darn Vincennes!!
Any spare time I have, that thing just eats it up!!! It is superdetailed, so a LOT of research goes into it. It is going extremely slow, but on the end I plan to have a CG, like no one else's!
Despite all my bitching one thing is for sure: This coming winter the NIMITZ is going to be complete, even if without the A-7 and A-6s until I figure out something for the decals. If anyone has suggestion regarding those, I am totally open for ideas.
Thank you again for checking in. I really hate to disappoint, but by the end of the year I will have at least 2 ships to present!!!
(plus its kinda half-ass summertime in the North pole, and I like the sun!)
