This is a beautiful build! It really makes me wish that Trumpeter would have also released the JEAN BART in her 50's fit in 1/350 like they did in 1/700. I have this kit with all the upgrades but I haven't started it yet. I wonder how hard it would be to convert one as Jean Bart. The secondary armament would probably be the hardest part of a conversion. Great work!

Incredible job Nicholas! Like others have mentioned that was a mediocre kit out-of-the-box at best but you remade it into something truly extraordinarily. People are gonna feel robbed if they look at your finished boat before they open the box on their Richelieu.

I draw your attention,on my pics ,the turrets are reversed!!the turret with the bathtubs for the 20mm ,not going on the first "barbette", but on the second (a bit of precipitation for share with you)

thanks for you comments Jam the VIIC/41is in dry dock,but ,the shipyard re-started again one day
I just finished a "small session" that I dreaded slightly, namely laying the name RICHELIEU
indeed my friend Bruno was engraved at my request the "baptismal name"




I had no idea how to implement it all in .. (hence my apprehension ). and after much thought, I found a walk to follow

initially after detaching the letters one by one from their support
I'm stuck on a support (blue tape) and I painted white a aerograph
Then on another support I glued the letters Upside Down



I sprayed and spray glue (for the designer)



I had previously superimposed several thicknesses of masking tape, cut into thin strip, and I have served as a reference for the "feet" of letters
I finally affixed the letters one by one



Repositionable glue helping any alterations in their
once removed the tape, I applied micro drops of cyano extra fluid and that was it ......!

Here are the result





Then, davits with whaling 8 m were put on a final basis






I remind you that this configuration is specific to the "model 52", not to install a previous version!

and finally, Hawse side were painted black, the middle too, but having received this "protuberance" for a correct positioning of the anchor on the hawse






giving it a small side Mick Jagger to my Richelieu

Interesting, but why did you not just use a stretch of cello tape to hold the letters together ? Assuming that Bruno had provided the proper spacing between the letters (as it seems to be the case), it was a pity to cancel this advantage by detaching them one by one and having to recreate the same in a elaborate way as you did. A stretch of cello tape over the letters, cut the entire block loose from the fret, trim each letter while still attached to the tape, spray some glue at the back of the letters, use another tape to provide the alignment on the hull, et voil� !

I do not mean this as a criticism at all, and maybe you tried what I suggest and it did not work, but maybe you did not think of this at all, in which case it may come handy for the second Richelieu ?

This is not the spacing,that I dreaded,but ,avoid that something be glued on the letters, indeed,as I used the ZAP extra thin,there was a risk that the cello tape ,remains glued.
the use of "spray mount",brings a flexible of implementation. I'm not saying that your solution is bad,but I had more "feeling" with mine and I think I'll keep it for the second

As I was struggeling with my lettering too, it is a great idea to use the SprayMount as positioning help! It was good to ad some extra fixing like the CA, as SprayMount can loose grip with time or heat (sun!)

As the CA sometimes build up to much, some colorless paint/varnish is also good for the final fixing.

I thought I had finished with the parts to do! not ! I just forgot the stern anchor (ancre de d�troit in French)
trompy them, they have been doing it



I just seem to see a pair of donkey's ears or bunny's of playboy
besides being false of form,they are out scales!!
I therefore again an anchor from scratch



the same with the "arm" installed



and as usual comparison with the piece of 1cts and that of Trumpy



we realizes well the oversizing!
and finally a photo (rotten) of the anchor (without arm) to the post



I can tell you that I will try to duplicate it in resin, because it is a real headache has realized (5h00)
