Can't really help with the crests, but here are some of the nicest pictures of this class I've seen. Angle is perfect and very sharp pics as well. They're from Airbase of course, but I re-uploaded them to keep them safe.

Well, near the Kashtan on the original it's painted red rather than the grey that is used on the others in that area. She also seems to have "lost" her saluting guns on both sides of the Kashtan.

I also thought, but I might be mistaken at this, that her helicopter deck previously was green rather than red. I might confuse this with the Neustrashimiy though.

Anyway I'm waiting for progress on any of these ships. So much news for a couple of years now on these models, yet none, except for Mick, that have made (or shown) progress so far...

Re the crests - not absolutely essential but nice to have.

Thanks for the great overhead shots - can now nearly work out how the bridge wings should be. Still cant work out exactly where the flag bins are though.

Mick is well advanced but two of us in Canberra are also going nearly as well on BOIKY and STOIKY - should post some pix soon. These two pose a few extra challenges as existing plans don't show the bridge wing details, extensions etc. I hope to close up my bridge deck bulwarks soon - fun with all the angles involved, esp. with the extensions.

All I can say with these ships is that absolute accuracy is necessary otherwise the superstructure angles come out bad - don't know how many times I had to do the port and starboard bridge front panels. I think Mick will agree that redoing sections is part of the fun!

Also takes a lot of care to keep the weight down in the superstructure - problem of strength v weight in a number of areas.

It's been a while since any posts on this subject.

Any updates on your Stereguschiy's Mick or Dave ?

As for me in Tumut. At the moment and since last September I haven't been able to get inside my garage for ANY work. Some one is moving and I said OK to use some space but boy they overtook it all.
People, if anyone ever asks you to share your space make sure they don't take it all. It's driving me nuts!!!!

Excuses Mick, excuses (don't we all have them? ), anyway good to see you're still around. Really hoping to see progress on any of your models. Recently some good Kirov footage has become available due to the upgrade of Nakhimov as well. Noticed that the Lazarev has these Udaloy style bubbles above the propellors as well, so be careful to watch out for ship specific reference material when you start any of your ships. Not sure if the Stereguchiys are as different from ship to ship as previous classes, but better take care about that.

Thanks mate, do you have any clear pics of the Lazarev around the props where they show this bubble? As for the Stergy having differences below the water line, please no new pics. I'm happy as is and don't need to have new pictures to show I'm wrong.

I seem to be under some pressure to post something not at least by Ozpirate. I include some shots of my BOIKY as it stands as today. Starting to get some momentum going now. Of particular interest may be the bridge wing extensions on the after part of the bridge - from BOIKY onwards.

Seems they ordered more of this class as well. I guess the Gremyachiy class is not such a succes or not coming along well. Odd choice to go for more of the "basic" version.

Hi Skipper 46 looking very good . I see the latest promotional video has the Kashtan fitted but with a full reload facility from the magazine silo below . Originally the kashtan was just bolt on with no reloads for the SAMs .

Hull as moulded and some primer on the upper works. Hope to get the hull painted soon. Meanwhile working on the after mast.

Ran my BOIKY for the first time the other day. Initially with no ballast except the motors and a Turnigy 5000 LIPO. Rapidly learnt that this was a bad way to go when she heeled right over during a turn. Ballasted with 580g aft and 1530 g forward and she ran like a dream - nearly down to the DWL. Note 12V 7AH Gel cell is 2180 g. Lesson learnt - ballast this baby before you run her!!
