Some more pictures in this subject for comparison:Atma wrote:Notice a difference in IJN Nagato and IJN Mutsu's platform of AA directors:
I never notice that difference before to be honest.
Noone of the IJN Nagato class battleships at the market offer that difference, between IJN Nagato and IJN Mutsu, and to be honest the platforms for IJN Mutsu available in the 1/350 and the numerous 1/700 kits resemble more of the IJN Nagato variant than the IJN Mutsu.
Thought and comments ?
Thanks in advance.

Cool! Also I see they have a Flex Chimney Wood Deck Sheet & Photo-Etched Part Set for IJN Battleship Nagato 1927 (Plastic model) to go with it.Atma wrote:The 1927 IJN Nagato by Aoshima in 1/700 is out:

Atma wrote:Depends what you want first, late war (a battleship infested with AA guns? Or early war, when still the big guns ruled the waves). I will suggest the IJN Kongo for the first case and in particular this one in 1/700, Fujimi's IJN Kongo:

and IJN Haruna:

State of the art molds and lots of PE set in the market.
For an early war mode, there is a lot of options, first there is a new mold IJN Hiei and IJN Kirishima by Fujimi and again with a lots of PE options, also a 1941 period IJN Nagato and IJN Mutsu again by Fujimi new mold's and they are far better than Aoshima. Also the upcoming IJN Yamashiro and IJN Fuso with two different options, one for 1941 and one for 1944 for both ships(they will be available at June).
IJN Kirishima:http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10158315
IJN Hiei:http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10122030
IJN Mutsu:http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10106871
IJN Nagato:http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10098688

IJN Fuso 1941(out in June)::http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10182386
IJN Fuso 1944(out in June)::http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10182387
and the Hybrid IJN Ise in aircraftcarrier/battleship mode:http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10160879
There is also a limited release of IJN Kirishima and IJN Hiei for the price of one in one box:
But I think the best option is this, Fujimi's special release of new moulded IJN Hiei in 1/700 that comes with a complete set of PE, in low price:

And remember all of the above comes with a full hull option too(minus the IJN Kirishima, IJN Ise and the upcoming IJN Yamashiro's and IJN Fuso's), they a bit more expensive than the waterline only version though. The full hull mode can be build also in a waterline version.
