Lloyd:
Not to hijack Kelly's thread, but mentioning the eyes, a jewelers magnifying hood is very helpful. As you progress it might be of interest to have your own build thread.
Cheers. Tom

Again apologies to Kyle for putting OT on his thread.
Lloyd: More hilarity vis a vis the stanchions. Looking at my BB63 photos the foremost stanchion on the flag bridge, starboard, is cut off at about 4' high, just right above awarthships bulwark! So one never knows what you will find, the doors to the glassed in area also is not a mirror image, port door swings inboard, stbd door swings outboard. Of course little of this applies to your era.
Cheers. Tom

Kelly
Sorry to hijack your thread, dumb newbie mistake. So excited to get some answers, too much talk and not enough think.
Next questions will be on a separate thread.

Kelly,
Very nice work on the After FC Tower. I'm in the process of scratchbuilding the newer radar antenna for the Fwd./Aft FC units for NEW JERSEY and your work simply gives me a bar to reach.

Kelly, your work is of course amazing, but your photography is also impressive as well! Your pictures really tell the story of your build!

Kelly, really nice work on the big Mo. Are you using WEM paints or something else? I like your subtle washes and dry brushing it's just enough to pull the detail out.

Thanks guys! I'm using Model Master enamels, they have a line of marine colors out. For the wash I'm using heavily thinned Tamiya Smoke, then a dry brushing with Model Master light gray.
As for an update, I've been working on the model but it doesn't look like it! I've been adding all of the gun directors, floater net baskets, etc. that take hours to build. Most of the railings are on now, except for the main deck. The forward tower and funnel are almost complete. I'll try to post some pictures this weekend.

Yes, looking fwd to more photos! Indeed the small details take forever and it often looks like small to no progress.

I see that on the flag bridge you canvased some of the PE rail? What material did you use for this?
The floater baskets do add a lot to the overall impression, and sure they are a PITA.

Hi Tom,
I'm not sure what you are looking at exactly, but I didn't add any canvas. It is either the kit part or from the Pontos set.

Thanks for the reply, after looking closely at the stbd side of the same area it is apparent this is part of the kit. I had seen someone's scratch ship a bit ago that had canvassed the pipe rails using I believe PVA glue.
All looks quite nice, especially the paint technique.
Cheers. Tom

Its starting to look properly busy. I really like the amount of wash you've done. very subtle and elegant.
