Re: 1/400 Admiral Scheer Heller
as I'm doing more and more details...one I thought had to be...if I'm correct....its the only surviving object from the schip...the bell
I think according to all pictures I've seen...that was her spot...but when going in details like that, you realise how wrong some structures of heller are...the stairs cut in the superstructure...weren't there
I put the small boat there...just to see size...not sure yet where I'm gonna place that boat...mid-schip...or same hight on schip port side

I have seen many modellers using rustdust to make the big battleschips weather battered...I'm not a fan of that...those schips where a nation's pride and very well taken care of...painted and re-painted sometimes twice a year, or more....only after the war or de-comissioned they would get that way.

Re: 1/400 Admiral Scheer Heller
I don't have a smaller drill...ones a certain size(small) its a problem finding the material to work with ...I've seen a film from the wartime where Hitler comes aboard a major ship in one just like this ..those 3 upper windows should not be round ...but be square with a slight bow for the top part of the window...reallity stops where size gets too small to do.DavidP wrote:I don't go for weathering nor railings as railings are out of scale unless it is a larger scale than 1/144. those portholes on the hulls of your small boats are too big as I think they should be half that diameter.

The life boats and launches look fantastic. Nice job with the modifications.
What color brown did you use for these boats? Or colors...
That hue, in that light, looks nice. Congrats.

the darker brown is indeed my own making...well mixing is better said.
I use Tamiya paints
mix darker brow of the small boats is ...
- 1 X yellow XF 3
- 2 X red X 7
- 2 X red brown XF 64
the lighter brown inside is also a mix of my own...as I didn't like the standart deck color ...I made one ...but forgot to write down what I used for it
so..when reserve empty...will have to make new mix....this time I'll write down lol even if only for myself

Re: 1/400 Admiral Scheer Heller
the reason I make scale 1/400 ships is because I have a airplane collection that scale and I like being able to compare...
here is one, from botom up..
Boeing 747-100
Marceau
Admiral Scheer
Prinz Eugen (to build)
