Was a little warm, but the breezes off the Delaware River kept if from getting too hot...

Which had been on loan to the Battleship NJ museum for almost six years.

Ah the good old Tirpitz. You must have did some spring cleaning and Found a spot for it. Looks like a nice clean build. What ship was in the 3rd or forth pic? Was it the other NJ?

The pair of funnels are the SS United States, rotting away at a pier across the river in Philadelphia. The other ship is the cruiser USS Olympia, also in a state of disrepair. I briefly considered driving across the bridge into Philly to go see her while she was still there, but didn't feel like dealing with traffic and parking. Maybe some other day...if she survives.

Yeah i was going to say. I could see the rust with out expanding the photo. I never knew we kept any ships from the era. Thanks for sharing.

The battleship still looks in fine fettle.
it costs alot to keep thease museum pieces, so the other two will have to find some rich person willing to restore them.

Philly is a pretty good city for historic ship-sighting. I highly recommend a trip here, but make sure it's a nice day. If you have at least that...it's hard to beat!

I plan on getting to Boston in the fall to see the Constitution again (I previously saw it at 14 and didn't care)...and also the Massachusetts.
Other cities on the future agenda would be Wilmington, NC and Mobile, AL, of course.

I've been to Charleston as well, and what a gem of a city that is! All I can say is that I love it...all of it...and that is all.
The Yorktown there is a ship modeler's dream. There must be 50 model ships aboard that thing. Very impressive.
