We are taking pre-orders for the kit for $46.95, Photo Etch and Metal Barrel Set for $44.95 OR the Deluxe edition of the kit, which includes Photo Etch and Metal Barrels for $84.90.

OH.... and we are getting a wood deck from Artwox... I doubt it will be here in time to ship with the kits, but, should be able to have it here at least by the end of April. The price should be pretty cheap as it is not a huge deck.

Since this is out so quickly after the review copies, may I ask if you had advanced information/test shots or are these more generic railings that weren't specifically designed on the kits dimensions and quirks?

It is the photo etch set from our Resin kit of the Indianapolis.... the two kits are very close.... I am currently building the Academy kit and using this photo etch set... everything seems to fit nicely. I will be posting pictures of the kit hopefully in a week or so when I am done applying the Photo Etch. I am not painting the kit... so you will be able to see exactly what is photo etch.

Is the Artwox deck bare wood or stained deck blue?

Blue is more accurate for the time the kit is depicting.

If Indianapolis was in neutral grays in 1945, wouldn't the deck be #4 Deck Gray 20, not 20-B Deck Blue?

It's possible (probable?), but I see more ships with blue decks and neutral paints (admittedly the ones that come to mind are all carriers)

I think it would be simpler, cheaper, and more versatile to simply leave them natural wood. That way you only have to make one and the modeler has more choices available. Just my opinion.

If it were up to me I would prefer it to be pre-stained. Just one less thing to worry about IMHO.

I can't say for sure either way. We've seen color photos of some ships from the sides, but I've never seen a deck shot.
This is something I have been researching on my trips to the archives for 3-4 years, but have found nothing concrete, so I would say deck blue for now, because most people will want it that way. Many people don't even know about the 1945 paint change.
