Searching plans of french Battleship "Amiral Baudin"

Post by 1:6000 »

Hello all,

I'm searching for plans and drawings of the french Battleship "Amiral Baudin" (1888) in both configurations with two and three barbettes. I'm building in a very small scale, so a proper elevation and sideview does it. ANY HELP is highly appreciated. I'll post pictures of the completed model asap!

Thanks a lot!

Christian.

The Sevice Historique of the French defence forces may have plans. Unfortunately, their on-line list is currently off-line: http://www.servicehistorique.defense.go ... 00004_ead|

However, when I compiled a list from their Web-site a couple of years or so ago, both ships you are interested were not on that list.

Another potential source is the Muse de la Marine in Paris. My catalogue dates from 1909 and, again, does not list either of the two ships, but may be too old then. So contacting the museum might be worthwhile.

Do you know these Web-sites:

some years ago i buy from the service historique de la marine some plans in A3 format of the old french ironclads, admiral duperre, formidable & amiral baudin, hoche & marceau class. these plans are not free but the cost of fotocopy is very cheap, 50 c each.
the plans are not bads, but not really accurate, i attach some example.
i think you can ask to service historique the plans. i wright in bad franch but i have not problem and they send me all i want.
it is a catalog of the plans in pdf (i annex the address).

http://www.servicehistorique.defense.go ... article293 instructions for the copies, in english. the plans are phisically at vicennes (paris)

http://www.servicehistorique.defense.go ... 000019.pdf
catalog of plans, in franch, (i annex some of pag 154 cod 8DD1 52 9 but they are more, you can choose).

for each plan need of 2 A3 fotocopy
if you want i can send in better resolution, send pm your address.
it is also a model of sistership formidable at la rochelle.

Hej Peppe,

I tried to PM you last week, but maybe that didn't work out.

Those plans You posted as an attachment are quite exactly what I was looking for. I would be extraordinarily grateful if You could send me the whole drawing (deck and sideview). The resolution You chose in the posting is perfectly suitable as I am building ships in 1/6000 scale, so there is no need for more detail. As an example, here is my recent build of "Amiral Duperre", still as an unpainted master:

Thanks again + all the best!
