Thought these photos of an out of the box build and another modified build of the same ship, might be of interest. The shortcomings of the MidShip Models have been well documented, but they've become something of a personal challenge. After finishing my latest attempt, I realized there was a nearly completed Mahan in my junk box. It was built when the kits were first released and was one of my first models. I pulled it out, added a couple of missing parts, and gave it a quick shot of rattle-can gray (to cover a really awful camouflage attempt).
I think the overhead shots best illustrate the differences between the models. Much happier with my second attempt. Sorry about the messy workspace.
