Calling all modern European non-nuke submarine fans!

Since I didnt see these covered in another post, I figured I might start it.

Sub type examples:

German: 201, 206, 209, 212, 214

Swedish: Gotland

Others: Collins, Scorpene, Dolfin

That's because there are nearly no kits of these boats available. I'm only aware of the 206 (I think) by Revell and perhaps a 209 somewhere, lastly they also released a U212, not sure how accurate or succesful that release was.

There is also a Collins available recently, but by an Australian brand and it can't really be called a European sub since it's only used in Australia for now.

The Swedish have a long history and series of sub classes that are all quite interesting, but I guess there's only a small market for any models of these. The Nacken and Vastergotland (now in service with the Singapore Navy as Swordsman) are also interesting ships. Also the Norwegian boats and the old Singapore (Swedish Origin) were quite interesting.

We're also forgetting The French Daphne and Agosta classes. Dutch Dolfijn, Zwaardvis and Walrus classes and of course the British Upholder and its predecessors.

Lots of stuff to choose from, but very few models available. Not sure how well they are covered in the scratch-building/plan market. I know the plans for Zwaardvis are available, but haven't seen many others.

Pitroad used to have 1/350 Sweden Vastergotland & Italy Nazario Sauro Class. No idea if they're available any more or not.

OKB Grigorov makes several of those classes listed in the OP, almost all are 1/700.

Definitely interested in all of the above! Currently reading, In Deepest Secrecy: Dutch Submarine Espionage Operations from 1968 to 1991. Just wish the shipping was waaaay cheaper. Last I checked, the shipping to the US was as much as the kits. Not that you can do anything about that. You need to get a US supplier!

This image popped on reddit a few weeks ago showing the inside of Norway's sub pen. That looks to me very much like a Ula class (X-planes and the sonar "horns" are visible) and that has to be the first time we've seen her screw...

The prop I originally drew was based on nothing, I made it up as I had nothing to go from. So I've gone ahead and already corrected the Shapeways CAD as at least this one has provenance in the photograph. Now where that screw falls in the Ula's development I have no idea, though reddit, and everywhere I found that picture listed (using Google Lens), indicated the image was taken in 2005. What the Ulas went to sea with originally I haven't any idea, and what they have now I'm clueless as well. And I used this upload update to also add the towed array pod late-model Ulas have.
