Dimensions of the Mk53 Nulka Decoy Launching System (1/700)

Hi,

I'm wheeling to scracthbuild the Mk53 Nulka Decoy Launching System (DLS) at 1/700 Scale as they are only available at 1/350 Scale (Veteran Models Ref. VTM35015)

Any idea of the dimensions of the Mk53 at 1/700 scale?

The full sized version used on RAN ships with four rockets per launcher are 1.65m width 2.54m height and 43cm depth. The height and depth will be the same just halve the width.

My LPD-21 New York from Cyber-Hobby/Dragon and DDG-92 from Hobby-Boss (due to arrive by the end of the month) don�t include the Mk53 Nulka DLS, but I would like to scratchbuuild and install it on these models!
I should had bought LPD-21 New York from HobbyBoss since includes the Nulka and a better PE set and other details not presents in the Cyber-Hobby/Dragon model.

Half the fun is seeing if you can make things yourself if I can suggest getting leather hole punch to make the discs (rocket covers) they're cheap enough and can have a multitude of sizes. A club mate of one is building the USS Pearl Harbor of the earlier harpers class in 1/72 very interesting ships!

I'll try to look at the Evergreen catalog for the best set(s) of styrene plastic shapes that could be useful to build the Nulkas.

Hi,

I found some spares of evergreen parts that might be useful.
Considering the dimensions of the real Nulka 1,65m x 2,54m x 0,43m (W x H x D) with 4 rockets per launchers we have for the 2 rockets launchers aboard LPD-21 or Arleigh Burke DDG: 0,825m x 2,54m x 0,43m.

At 1/700 scale it's: 1,19mm x 3,63mm x 0,62mm (W x H x D)

That's really small!!!!

Reference 8204 from Evergreen as 1,10 mm x 350mm x 0,60mm.

Do you thing this could be a good commitment?

I still need to build the plate/base for the launcher itself, perhaps a small rectangule with 1,18mm x 1,5mm and 2,0mm depth.
Then the rectangular part should be fixed to the plate/base with a small angle.

3,63mm height seems to short to me, or perhaps not?

What do you think?

Do you have any idea about the angle between the base/plate and part with the 2x Nulka launcher rockets?

Are you sure about the dimensions? I thing the Height (3,63 mm / 2,54m) is too small!

Can you check please?

The RAN ones a vertical and come out to 70degrees from memory when firing.
