Killer my man! :woo_hoo: She looks beat up alright, I can dig a rusty ship. Nice deck too, is that paint?

Also, are your shelves setup the way I think they are? I love the idea, showed it to the wife and said I need to get a board like that on the wall...

Sorry I missed this, don't check the regular pics section often, musually just go straight to WIP or Completed. :wave_1:

Hey Kyle, thanks again for the kind words. Yeh the ship received a bit of rust, I kind of wanted to give that heavily weathered effect. Now, if the ship was really beat up like that I could not say. All pictures that I came across were black and white and it was hard for me to judge. The camera and the lighting made it more orange then it really looks. The deck was done by using the pre-cut wood deck by artwox, a little tricky to put down, but it was worth it. I then gave it a wash and weathered with oils, because the deck looked a little new to me. She was one of the harder models that I had to paint, with all the camo that she had, it was a bit tricky. There are 3 different shades of grey on the ship, I know its hard to see......

As for the display, I used the slat wall panels and bought slat wall shelving. The shelf that it is sitting on is a 4"x10" clear acrylic with a 1" lip. This is only temporary for this particular ship. I ordered different shelving for it without the lip. I will post more pics on what the whole thing looks like. Theres alot of empty shelving, so there waiting for more models to be built :cool_2:

Glad you like it!

Beautiful!! I am slowly working in the dragon Bismarck, but after seeing so many trumpeter builds I am thinking about getting the trumpeter Tirpitz to go along with him. I think it will be interesting to try the different builds as the reviews seem to hint they are close in detail.

Thanks krgf15! Yeh, she took me a few months to build......lots and lots of small pieces. In the end it was worth it because the ship shows alot of detail, even though there is no PE on it, except for the main guns.

At points in the build I got a little frustrated with all of the small pieces and i was getting a little ticked off at Trumpeter for making a small ship with all of these small parts.

I do have the Trumpeter 1941 Hood 1/700 on the shelf, but Im not jumping right into it, Im taking a break :lol_3:

I am not familiar with Dragon ship models, but I am a big fan with there armor. Im sure there ships are just as good, well thanks again for the reply. take care my friend! :wave_1:

I would say somewhat over-weathered, at least for this ship. You appear to have painted Bismarck as he appeared at Grimstadfjord on May 21, with upperworks camo overpainted, but the hull camo still visible. Bismarck was sunk on May 27. I don't think Bismarck would have picked up that much rust - especially on the newly-painted upperworks in less than a week. Good weathering for any other ship at sea for a couple of weeks or more. :thumbs_up_1:

I have to concur it is a very nicely built and painted model but Bismarck would never have been this rusty, perhaps Scharnhorst and Gneisenau after thier Atlantic trip ended up like this but Bismarck was never out there for long enough . Very nice model besides though and beauty IS in the eye of the beholder... :thumbs_up_1:
