Looking for help w/ modeling people

Post by Adam Baker »

I've got the RoG 1/400 Queen Mary 2 ship model, and I'm wanting to model people in various poses that I can have 3D printed so that I can have some life to the ship instead of having this massive ship model that ends up looking like a ghost ship.

I've found a few articulating human models on the net, but so far they arent exactly user friendly to position them in the poses I'm looking for.

I do my solidmodeling using Solidworks 2014, and I was hoping that someone might be able to point me toward some freeware human models that I might be able to use to create what I'm looking for. Obviously b/c of the scale, the models dont need to be hyper accurate or anything like that. All I'm trying to do is get the general poses. Looking to try having people sitting, standing, walking, possibly swimming, maybe dancing if I can pull it off. Basically the type of poses you'd see from people on a cruise ship. There's also a basketball court and a tennis court on the ship so I have thought about attempting to model figures playing those games, just for more visual interest.

The model I'm attempting to use at the moment is a 1:1 model I downloaded from the GrabCAD website.

1/400 figures are pretty small by 3D printing standards - before investing too much time into making a batch of CAD figurines, you might want to do a quick test run of a generic figure by your preferred printer first to make sure the result is better than what you can come up with by modifying existing resin options.
De quoi s'agit-il?
