Eduard kits for Tamiya 1/700 Yamato

I have just purchased the Tamiya version of the Yamato 1/700 scale.

I have painted many revell kits previously and now want to take it to the next level.

I am looking to purchase the Eduard kit - I can see two different ones online and am not sure what is better or if I require both.

1) The Yamato 1/700

Can anyone offer any insight or advice ?

On a second note, I am looking to glue my model to a oak base with the intention of styling it as the sea.

I assume the Yamato kit comes with a full hull - is there any technique to cut the submergered sections off ?

Tamiya's 1/700 Yamato does not come with a full hull - it is waterline only, so you don't have to worry about cutting anything off.

On the other hand, if you want to portray her in heavy seas, that means you might want to add some visible lower hull.

For the Eduard PE, you'll want the newer one (17016) since it's sized for the kit you're buying, as opposed to the other one that's sized for previous tooling of the kit.
