Fairmile B's in R.I.N. service

Post by sandy »

Hi,

This may be a long shot but does anyone know what colours the Royal Indian Navy Fairmile B motor launches were painted during the Arakan campaigns, specifically Third Arakan?

I have the Trombay to Changi book and the photos seem to imply a three tone scheme but I am unsure as to what the colours may be.

It may be that they are just the RN Coastal Forces dark disruptive.

There is also a sketch in the book showing a 'B' in Sea Green, black and white from 1942.

I am building a 24th scale 'B' and was wanting to do it as one of the R.I.N. ships.

Any help appreciated.

All the best

Hi,

Here is my stab at a Fairmile B in RIN colours.

Based on the limited information (Dark Disruptive) and a couple of photos in the Lambert book and some more in the Trombay to Changi book, I decided on a grey and sea green scheme.

P.S. And yes, I did make a few mistakes along the way .... ho hum, it's not the end of the world.
