beach diorama

Post by a380 »

hello all,

this is not about a ship but a seaplane and a fantasy one at that
I am getting close to finishing a model of the savoia s21 in 1/48 scale from the movie 'porco rosso'.

I would like to make a diorama similar to the screen captures below.

I am familiar with the techniques described in this forum for deep open water but scratching my head about how to
make shallow, calm and clear water lapping at a sandy beach. any links on this or other forums or you-tube videos would be highly appreciated.

thank you :wave_1:

i think the idea is to build it in layers with some kind of clear resin that you color in steps starting from the bottom: Darker blue, then lighter, then lighter, and the final layer clear. Obviously you have painted the bottom beforehand. Look for armor dioramas that have the tanks in water, it's the same concept.
