Styrene instead of PE for minor details on IJN Destroyers

I managed to find some old Styrene stock I had leftover from my indoor RC airplanes (very tiny rods, .010" and .015").

I have discovered that the .015" rods make for excellent detailing for the degaussing cables and are much simpler to install than are the PE degaussing cables (I have a generic set going on my 1/700 Agano).

The styrene goes on with a simple positioning with tape, and then touching two ends with liquid glue, pulling the tape off, and then gluing the midpoints.

Then, simply pull the styrene to the next position, and add more glue as you go around.

This does not leave installation brackets, which I am making by gluing tiny segments of .010" over the .015" degaussing cable. (only the top portion of the cable, and not below it). I am only doing Brackets on one ship (IJN Akazuki), and leaving the degaussing cable without brackets on an IJN Fubuki (and just painting on the brackets, with a line of slightly darker paint, and then two dots of lighter paint at the top and bottom of the line (to give the impression of a bracket wrapped around the cable).

I am doing this simply to see how it compares to the PE. I suspect the PE.

However.... Since I bothered to ask here about PE, and methods of applying it first, It looks like I will just be bankrupting myself by buying PE kits instead.

But the Styrene did come in handy on the smokestacks for accentuating some of the details that are a bit sublimated on the kits.
