Optivisor and varifocals

Hi, I'm a new member and this is my first post...been building aircraft and tanks for many years but thought I'd try a ship or two.

I've been reading the hints and tips (what a goldmine!) and notice that quite a few folks seem to be having problems with using an optivisor with varifocals. I've had an Optivisor for donkey's years, and varifocals for not much less; I've noticed that, of late, it seemed to be a bit of a problem getting consistent sharp focus. With a bit of experimentation, what I discovered was that if I tilt the Optivisor up a bit so that I'm looking through the *top* (the long distance part) of my specs, all is well: perfect focus, no eye strain. This seems completely counter-intuitive; the whole point of varifocals is that they give you a close-up section at the *bottom*. But it works. Has the added advantage that the close up part of of my specs is free to look down below the Optivisor to pick up paint, a part or whatever.
