SMS Derfflinger

Post by Mr. Bean »

Looking for hull lines of SMS Derfflinger or class ( Lutzow, Hindenburg)

The reason there are so many request here is I'm trying to decide which ship to try and build.

This class of battlecruiser has pretty clean lines from pictures, wish to see hull lines for complexity.

What are you specific looking for?
The best book about German BCs is "German Battlecruisers of World War One" by Gary Staff from Seaforth.
There are top and side drawings included. And for the Ltzow as example also cutaway drawings.
I'm not sure if this is enough for you.

Christian,

Thank you for suggestion, I will check out the publication.

What I'd like to see is a body plan. I wish to view the basic shape at various cross sections, how the armor lays against the hull, (does the lower edge flush with shell or extend outward?) and how the shaft fairings appear in cross section.

Peppe,

Thank you, I have viewed the drawings and they reveal what was needed. I will choose Derfflinger as my attempt to build.
Now I need to find plans, detail drawings and pictures. Some pictures have been collected from the net. most are general views, only a couple close enough to reveal detail. Will post later today.

Main focus at moment is hull.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are drawings of Ltzow by Abramoski originally drawn in 1/125 and probably they were released by the VTH Verlag. The plans could be also available from Lothar Wischmeyer in 1/100. But I would have to ask for a contact address.
