Display case materials

Post by McArthur »

Almost finished rigging the RATTLESNAKE by Model Shipways, 1/64 scale. Display case for it with glass will be too heavy for me to likt. What other materials may be used, lighter than glass?

Plexiglas (clear acrylic) is a popular one, and used by custom display case makers like Grandpa's Cabinets: http://www.grandpascabinets.com/

I am familiar with Plexiglass for display cases, but it scratches too easily. Even Kleenex will scratch it.
The only thing I found years ago was Lexan, with a mar resistant coating. Very expensive, but I may have to use it..
