Best paint match for HMS Dreadnought 1915 in 1/350

Post by RaceFuel »

Good morning everyone..or evening, or day, whatever time it is when you read this...

I'm preparing for a build of the Trumpeter 1/350 Dreadnought in 1/350. They recommend Mr Color H333 "Extra Dark Sea Gray" for the hull. By the photos that seems just a touch dark however. I've seen some people recommend using Model Master's "Panzer Gray" mixed with "Light Gray" in a 70/30 mix, but MM Enamels take SO LONG to cure and can be touchy to thin with lacquer.

Would cutting Mr Color H333 with a bit of light gray to lighten it up for scale effect be better than going with the model master approach?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I can ascertain and after a bit of research, I think Mr Colour 333 is about right but 331 is nearer to the 1916 colour, well that's what I'm getting anyway.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Jabb
HMS Hood, the big one!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.
