5", 38 caliber gun

Post by michel.verschuere »

Hello,

I am assembling the missing items for a 1/72 scratchbuild of CVE-107 Gilbert Islands (Commencement Bay Class Escort Carrier out of WWII).

I am looking for detailed pictures or plans of the two 5", 38 caliber guns that were installed on this ship. They were a version of the open pedestal mount type described on this Wikipedia link:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5%22/38_caliber_gun

Any general arrangement views at listed scale would do. I plan to build a 3D model of it and then print the main parts with my 3D printer but I need pictures and some plans. I am happy to share the 3D model here after it is made.

Can anyone help me to plans?

Cheers, Michel.
