1/700 Modelkrak hulls

I have a few 1/700 Modelkrak kits and would like any tips on removing the casting plugs from the hulls.

If the plug is almost the full size of the hull, the usual way is to grip the hull right side up, and move it back and forth on a flat piece of coarse sandpaper. Check progress frequently to make sure not too much is being removed from either side, or end. If the plug is thick enough you could try removing most of it with a modeling saw, then using sand paper, as above, for the remaining bits.

I used a belt sander on Modelkrak's Aurora way back in the day: http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery ... index.html

If you don't use a belt sander, get a heavy wet/dry grit, like 200, to start with, until you knock most of the over pour down. Keep rotating the hull too, so you aren't sanding in the same direction.

After you've got the majority of the over pour sanded off, go to a finer grit to prevent you ruining the hull. Resin sands quick, and you can destroy a hull before you know it.
