The Bag looking things

Post by Anonymous »

What is the best way to create the "bag looking things" at the base (where the barrel enters the turret) of the big guns on battleships and the such. I am sorry I do not know hte names of them. I am still new at modeling.

Thanks

Them be called Blast Bags, me thinks...A way to make them is grab a chunk of filler putty and stick it into the hole, and wrap it around the barrel base and shape as desired.

I normally use Milliput and it works quite nice. I did that on my Prinz Eugen and worked perfectly. Since this product takes sometime to dry you can mold it easily in the shape you want it to be. :eyebrows:

Milliput can be smoothed using a wetted brush as well...

I make blast bags with a mix of artists acrylic paint and matt impasto gel. Then, just paint them on and they build up nicely.

Cheers,

I use "Blu Tac", an office product. I just take a blob and wrap it around the turret and form it as I like. The great thing is if it goes wrong I can remove it very easily. When I'm happy with the result I flood it with CA to harden it, then paint it.

Blast bags

I use white glue( krystall klear)--this forms a skin whilst hardening and can make very realistic creases.

Good luck
