I got to live with that until my own website is up and running.

Made the funnels out of PVC Tube and sheets and some perspex for the rounded shapes. The rest of the pics should be self-explaining:

Thanks for the praise. IF I do finish a Battlercruiser it will be HINDENBURG. Those funnels for DERFFLINGER were more or less a "finger exercise"

That is some incredible work. How did you get that brass work onto the funnel in such a clean manner? There is not even one HINT of glue there!

Jason, I think I do not deserve the praise - there are stains of glue, though only little.

I drill holes suitable to the PE parts, say 0.3 to 0.5 mm - it depends. I test then if the PE item will fit into the hole smooth. After that I dip the parts into VERY liquid CA glue and plug them in. This works perfect with superstructure made of resin, styrene or perspex. The remaining gap will be filled in the next step using the primer.
Whenever possible I try to glue from the inside with liquid CA glue. Larger attachments to the superstructure I do with bolt and nut.

Attached a photo - look carefully, you will find stains of glue. Its just a finger exercise showing a typical setup of superstructure of a german WW 1 capitalship. I tried my hands on different types of railing using my own PE parts.

And btw - things often look more decent on photos

Afternoon Ingura,
I've just wandered into this section of MW.com and loh and behold, something I wanted to see. Defflinger funnels, which are fabulous! I hope to be making her in 1/144 scale. I'd like the Zinnecker 1/100 version but a big big and costly.

Will we be seeing a 'build' of your Hindenberg on MW.com? I for one would be very interested, though I'm using, ahem, a fibre glass hull that needs to be reworked good style. No armour plate or anything. It's as smooth as a baby's posterior.

Nice model. I have a resin hull of the Derfflinger in 1/100 scale by Georg Durr who did the model of the ship that is in the Imperial War Museum in London from the same mold. It comes with castings of the boats and turrets, films for the photo etch, and plans. Will consider any reasonable offer. Contact me at:
