1/1200 with Sketchup

Post by Old 1/1200 fan »

Hi,
I have just clued in to the Model Warships website. It's Christmas come early!
I have been interested in model warships and naval history all my life and have created about 5 large collections in 1/1200 scale and 1/2400 over about 60 years.
1/1200 scale has always been my great love, and it has been with regret that I have seen the commercial market decline to endangered status.
In the last few years, in memory of my basswood/plasticard and wire fleets, I have undertaken to use 3D design for another, better attempt. I decided on using Sketchup as program and have plugged forward for the last few years. I'm not a natural with computers, but the desire to see it happen has moved me onwards.
I'm happy to say I am now getting results.
I'll post some images as soon I work out how (I said I wasn't a natural!)
It's great to find some fellow souls.
I'd love to hear any opinions or thoughts. I still have lots to learn on Sketchup.

All the best

John,

The forum limits the size of posted images to 1200x1200 pixels or less, and the file size can be no more than 150 Kbytes.

You can use the Paint program that comes with Windows to edit, crop and resize image pixel size. You can find it here:

C:\Windows\System32\mspaint.exe

Save the image as a JPEG (.jpg) file type.

If you have a photo editing program (Photoshop, etc.) you may be able to save the image at reduced quality (higher compression) to reduce file size without reducing the pixel size (but it still has to be smaller than 1200x1200).

At the bottom of the Forum "Post a reply" dialog is the "Upload attachment" dialog ("upload" is computer gobbledygook for "send"). Just use the "Browse" button to open the file folder containing the picture, select it and click "Add the file." You can add multiple images to each post.
