For a joint operation scratchbuild with a friend of mine, where can I get 1:16 turned metal barrels for armour? Specifically for a SU-100. T.i.A!

Amphibious Russian Assault Gun - interesting....

Rough dimensions? Scale drawing at hand? Maybe I can do it for you.

Ingura, if you're willing to help, i'd be very glad! I will work out the dimensions tonight (in collaboration with my friend, he's the armour expert). Do you accept paypal?

What I expect is that you need two barrels in a diameter not exceeding 10 mm. Forget PayPal - we're not talking money at all, ok?

Here is what I did for a friend: 15"ers of WARSPITE in scale 1/100

One perfect plug, the rest casted resin.

Hi Peter
I was looking for someone to turn me 1 (I need 9, but would cast all the others by my own) Baltimore class cruiser 8(203mm) L/55 in 1/72. Its quite difficult to find someone here in Portugal willing to do that. Building such a ship is something Ive been holding up, since I cant find a person to do that job for me.
Thanks for asking.

Ingura, I did the math and the max diameter is 17mm. The entire length of the barrel would be about 25 cm, add a locator pin of about 5 cm = 30.
Perhaps you could chop it up in two with a connecting pin, but there's no discernable 'line' somewhere in the middle. I have a GIf image with all the figures worked out, but its on another computer right now. I can send-post it tomorrow. Do you think you can make a two piece barrel with a small enough transition=

Ingura,

I've done the math and jotted down the dimensions on a technical drawing that showes the full length of the barrel. If there's one thing impressive about the SU-100, it's that ridicilous barrel jutting forward.

Will you let me know if you can turn this one? Your help is really appreciated!

Ingura, that's great to hear. Actually we will need only one barrel, with some cm's at the end to fix her into the hull. That's ok?
If you can do that, you'll have two very thankful friends in Holland. :cool_2:
