The DK Brown Atlantic Escorts book

Just received my Pen & Sword maritime books catalogue and I note at the back that the DK Brown book Atlantic Escorts: Ships, Weapons & Tactics in World War II will now be published by Seaforth Publishing in November. Pen & Sword are apparently doing the book for �20 (normally �25) and free p&p too on a preorder.

Bizarrely though there is absolutely nothing about this book on the Pen and Sword website http://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/ and Seaforth Publishing do not seem to exist

I have also seen this one on Amazon under the publisher US Naval Institute Press (Oct 2007) but this one has now been pulled from the preorder Amazon catalogue.

Confusingly there is also a forthcoming book by DK Brown titled Atlantic Escorts: Allied Anti-submarine Vessels 1939-1945 Chatham Publishing (15 Oct 2007) on Amazon which seems to be exactly the same book with a different title

Confused ? I am !! It seems this volume is having major trouble getting published.

It's not just D K Brown's book; Amazon UK are attributing some of the other forthcoming Chatham Publishing titles to Seaforth Publishing as well. For example, Norman Friedman's "Naval Firepower" and Rif Winfield's "British Warships in the Age of Sail 1714-1792".

I was thinking that Amazon UK had got it wrong, but if Pen & Sword are saying the same thing then maybe not.

Here's the answer:

YORKSHIRE-based Pen & Sword has bought Greenhill Books and Chatham Publishing in a deal that re-launches them as Frontline Books and Seaforth Press imprints. They will publish military and maritime history books respectively. The deal excludes Greenhill's and Chatham's backlist titles, which continue to be distributed under their original imprints by Greenhill's founder, Lionel Leventhal.
