Help with 3d Modeling for printing

So Im planning on modeling ship masts because my fingers are too big and I break them. I've made the model now I want to print the model, I know Shapeways and others will print them for me but Im kind of nervous sending them besides wasting money. I got the measurements from actual 1/700 ships and were transferred over to the model. I dont know if someone can do a test print for me I'd pay what you think was fair for your supplies that you used. Let me know if you are interested in lending me a hand, It would be nice if you were into 1/700 as well thanks. Mods please let me know if this is ok or not to post here.
