Torpedo Wake

I'm working on creating my own "little" (the models are 1/144 scale) diorama with two subs in combat. One if firing on the other. Anyone got any ideas on what I can use for a wake? I'll be mounting two scratch built torpedoes onto some wire which will be attached to the attacking sub's tubes. I was planning on using cotton (spray painted with an appropriate color) to surround the wire but wanted to get some additional opinions and guidance.

The sub is submerged correct. If so it all depends on the depth and type or prop. If it is an early model with a steam turbine then a little white trail of bubbles will appear on the surface. If the torp is electric then there is no white bubble trial. If the torps are near the surface then a slight bulge will be created in front of it and maybe a very slight wake. I wouldtry sculpting it with some silicone around the wire. If you paint the wire in white or light, faded blue, you could even leave the silicone unpainted at the end stages of the trail.

Never tried myself, but that�s what I would do, since the cotton effect looks pretty unreal to me.
