Danish navy received two new frigates

The Danish navy received two new frigates:

Absalon (F341) and Esbern Snare (F342)

They were re-classified from "fleksible st�tteskibe" (flexible support ships) to frigates, much more fitting to their characteristics. Accordingly, the hull number changes from L16 to F 341/L17 to F342. I.e. not new ships, but newly classified ships

The main task of the two ships will be from now on anti-submarine warfare. For their MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, ASW equipment is already on order. I do not know, if they will also get a towed array sonar (there is space available).

Thank you! That article I was searching yesterday, but there was no access to the server of the Danish military. I found only the DR article and the Danish Wikipedia article, which referred to the DR article.

The possibility to add a towed array sonar was mentioned very early on - interesting that they will get them. That means there will be again a ASW capability.
