Prince of Wales, light AA update

Post by bengtsson »

A. Marder mentions in his book "Old Friends New Enemies" that PoW as part of force "Z" recieved last minute updates to her light AA armament. He mentions I think 4 Oerlikon put aboard in Greenock and later mounted during the stop at Cape Town SA. And later on arrival at Singapore several 40MM Bofors guns embarked at Colombo were installed aboard.
Anyone know the placement of these additions to PoWs Light AA. Where were they mounted?
I assume the 40MM Bofors were Army Guns, there must have been modifications in order to mount them aboard ship. Or were they just welded down by the Army mount's legs. I've seen Merchant ships and Escorts on the Malta Convoys carry 40MM. How was this done on PoW??
