PEOPLE, PEOPLE OF YOU ALL, WHO'S THE FAIREST BB OF THEM ALL?
I think you will find this poll interesting. I'm not asking which battleship was the best but, as the question points, which was the most graceful, beautiful (since we are reffering to ladies) and intimidating...
You can chose two answers, and take in mind that we are reffering to classes, not particular battleships...
But I have a catch for you... For every answer you chose post a photo that you think makes a point for your choise...
I think you will find it interesting.
My choices are, for No1 HMS VANGUARD and for No2 FN RICHELIEU...

I voted Bismarck and Yamato. Bismarck for that solid, fortified, engineered look, I've always had a soft spot for her looks. Yamato because she just has a commanding presence. I look at Yamato, with her tall tower, her sloped stack, the massive flowing line of her hull, and I can't say no to voting for such a powerful, commanding ship.

Guys, remember to post pictures of your choices!
I prefer my ships to be slender with a strong "Face" - "face" as in a strong presence of bridge windows, which to me are like the eyes of a ship. I'm also quite partial to vessels with the "clipper bow".

I chose the Scharnhorst Class as #1 and the Iowa class as #2.
I love the way the Scharnhorst class ships look, I wish one was still around to go visit as a museum. I would have loved to see it.

I'm going to go with a Littorio
and instead of Richelieu, Strasbourg, of the Dunkerque class.

I picked the Nagato, but most all of the IJN battleships catch my eye.

Because I actually complied with the judging criteria (graceful, beautiful and intimidating), I was left no choice but to opt for both Yamato and Bismarck....the two that best combine all these qualities, in my judgment.
Others are equally and/or more beautiful and graceful, but it's that third criterium that tips the scale. BTW, what's Hood doing on a list of classed battleships? She has no class sisters to compare with, even if you bend the envelope a little to categorize her as a battleship in the first place, and she was certainly the most "individual" ship of those listed!
Ah, well....details, who reads 'em / who needs 'em anyway, right?
My apologies for the relatively poor-quality images:

I vote for the SoDak and the Iowa classes
The SoDaks for their short, compact design giving them a muscular Pitbull apperance...and the Iowas for their long, sleek lines giving them the look of a Greyhound!

HMS Queen Elizabeth, before any refit, as ambassador of all WWI Uk BB's.

Well first for me will be Yamato, her size has always impressed me, it didnt contribute much though all she was at the end was one huge target hard to miss on the water but still to me she is #1 baby!!!
, as for #2 SODAK class, Dave you found the words I was looking for her I really like that Pitbull type.
pic came from the Gakken 50
took this shot off TV from the Yamato movie ( dont mind the PAUSE sign

Built models of all the nominated ships except the French & Italian ones, but not because I didn't want to (they just weren't available for a long time).
Based upon what I've built, Queen Elizabeth (WWI version) is by far the most beautiful.

My favorites the Nelson class battleship. Unfortunately you cannot vote for them.

I am not sure if it is possible, but it would be interesting if we could view the breakdown of the preferences by continent/country. After all we are all conditioned by our cultures to perceive beauty in different ways. My prefs:
