Vietnam-era Essex class photo etch

Post by navydave1989 »

I purchased an angled deck Essex class kit (CVA-31 Bonhomme Richard) from Kraken a while back and it's nearly complete but needs some detailing. Does anyone currently offer photoetch for 1960s Essex class (other than deck railings)? There look to be specific deck-edge fittings, especially around the bridle catcher sponsons. Thanks in advance.

Assuming you're working in 1:700 scale: Your best bet is to get the GMM 1:720 USN Supercarriers PE set and modify from there. A lot of parts you won't need, but a lot of overlap with what you can use, since this set covers 1960s Forrestals through 1990s Nimitzes. Your Vietnam-era radars are here, and all the included bits of deck edge netting should get you through working around the bridle catchers.
