No, no, FLIP is not sinking.........

Hello there, although I haven't bothered with the pix, there are several strange looking research ships around the world, some with 4 huge legs, some that sink allowing oil rig platforms to slide off, some made completely of concrete, the odd and strange type of shipping is rather eye catching.

Well, we can't forget the battleship whose gunners got so demoted that they were reduced to using 5"/38 for their main guns, eh?

FLIP was floating insturmentation platform. Flip up where it is needed so that you can do experiments on the water column. It makes a lot of sence when you know what it is used for.
