my first boat : PURITAN

i would like to show you the first boat i built (i saw so many wonderfull boat kit on this place, so i may be ridiculous, but i'am happy to share it with you)
it's the first time i built a boat of this scale, i usually built 1/35 AFV model,
working with photo etched in this scale is a little bit harder than in 1/35 (now i find 1/35 easyyyyy)

Very nice ship you got there! A classic warship. Too bad you have only two pictures. What's the scale and maker of this ship?

I've visited your website and saw that you've built so many tanks, many of them are probably resin kits because I've never seen them in plastic.
I also have many armors on show on my site: http://www.falconbbs.com covering WWI to present time.

I have a suggestion for you to improve your website. On your main page when I click on the first choice (US WWII), loading time is very long for
each thumbnail picture, even at 1 Mbps ADSL connection I'm using. I clicked to see the "properties" of "M26 PERSHING" picture and knew the reason why.
This 181x141 pixel thumbnail picture is in fact a scale-downed display of 567x425 pixel picture whose size is 66.5KB! That's way too much for a thumbnail pic,
and you have 30 thumbnail pics for US WWII. You should actually resize all your thumbnail pictures to 181x141 and show them as such. This will reduce the size of your files to about 15-20KB per file and loading time will be 3-4 times faster!

Scratch build or you have a very good camera, the rail perhaps a little bright, but a lovely looking ship-of-war, a few more pix wouldn't go a miss though, well done mate.

for the PURITAN , it's a 1/350 th Commander Model kit from Iron Shipwright, it's really a nice kit, i just add B&D metal barrel because those from the kit are in resin and not really nice

i have aquestion, how do you make the "haubans" and wire for ship ? do you use small and fine cord, elastic ?

do you have an product to make haubans and wire ?

You're welcome, pimousse! Apart from resizing the thumbnail pictures to be smaller in file size, I think your full pictures are too small. So if you have the original pictures (full size from digital camera), you should resize them again - to be, say, 900x675 or 800x600 pixels. They will show better details.

I can't find the meaning of "haubans", it's not in the dictionary. But to make small wiring for antenna, you may use sprues stretching technique. or if you want white wire you may stretch CottonBud sprues. Just my $0.02
