Calling all British Nuclear Submarine fans

Hi All,
I have been trawling the web trying to find some scale drawings of RN nuclear submarines, and have come up mostly blank, apart from some old airfix magazine articles on the web.

anyone know of any cheapish books or online sources of plans for the early nuclear subs,

i.e the Trafalgar class and those before them.

Yeah, i found those, but a bit hard to justify on my slender modelling budget, unless I strike lucky and get them secondhand on ebay or somewhere.

I was wondering if there were any books similar to those old ian allan ? ww2 books with scale drawings.

Incidently I see you are from my old home town..

My project is basically to model those warships I got involved with when working in the 'yard', sort of a keepsake for my kids.

I think you'll find that in recent years in UK very little public owned information such as that is available readily without having to cough up a lot of money. My suspicion is that the museums are so strapped for cash that they feel they have to maximise prices across the board - the National Maritime Museum charge of �20 per electronic copy of old sailing ship drawings is a case in point.

One thought re Devonport ships/subs is to contact the museum there which is volunteer run and might have some stuff of use. There is an Annex of full hull models that might yield some useful photos I suppose. http://www.ukmcs.org.uk/members/member_ ... museum.htm and

How may of you would like a model of her like me?

Airfix just came out with a Trafalgar class ssn in 1/350th, only seven pounds sterling.... pretty good for the price and not badly molded.

Someone is interested.
I purchase all submarine draws fro Jacobins, and can guarantee that they are very very good. I already design Resolution, and last nights prepare the rest of the draws for work.
In our next series there must be at least HMS Vanguard and HMS Astute.
Unfortunately for now I�m unable to find draws of the older RN subs.
So any suggestion where I can find such are welcome.

I will be getting this kit when it is released. Hopefully; boat 2, Ambush, should be rolled out sometime in December. I will be on the bridge over the docks to get some photos.

I just received my four 1/350 scale Trafalgar class boats from Squadron. Are there any modifications I should be aware of before I start a build?

I understand the bow profile (in my photo) is altered by protective parts put on to cover secret equipment fitted there.

Regarding the new HMS Resolution kit coming soon; whilst any Barrow-built is welcome I, personally, would have preffered one of HMS Dreadnought. It was launched on 21/10/1960 and this month marks the fiftieth anniversary.

As for HMS Dreadnought- I want to build all British nuclear submarines, unfortunately I can�t find any draws. For Resolution I use draws from www. jecobinplans.com but they have only for 4 types.
So if you can help me with draws for the earliest types I will design the models a.s.a.p.

Well, they clearly feel it works well so apparently it isnt noisy. The caps make sense to hide all the good bits from prying eyes.
