Constitution, the world�s oldest commissioned warship, will celebrate her 199th Anniversary on October 21st, 1996, at her home port at Boston Harbor, where the ship was first built nearly 200 years ago. With a 12 million dollar, 5 year overhaul almost complete, Constitution and her crew plan to set sail in 1997 to celebrate her 200th anniversary. Boston, MA (Jul. 4, 2002) -- USS Constitution (�Old Ironsides�), the oldest commissioned warship afloat, makes her annual 4th of July �turnaround cruise� in Boston Harbor where a 21-gun salute is also rendered off Castle Island�s Fort Independence in South Boston. This year, the Secretary of the Navy, The Honorable Gordon England witnessed a swearing-in ceremony aboard the ship, where more than two-dozen immigrants were sworn in as naturalized citizens. Ramage provided escort for the worlds oldest commissioned war ship while tugs aided in her transit to Marblehead Neck, MA. Boston (July 16, 2005) - USS Constitution, the world's oldest commissioned warship afloat, fires a 19-gun salute to the city of Boston as part of her "Salute to the Pacific Northwest" cruise. Constitution embarked on her third turnaround cruise of the year with approximately 600 guests aboard, many of the from the country's Pacific Northwest region. Boston (July 16, 2005) - USS Constitution, the world's oldest commissioned warship afloat, is escorted to Boston Harbor's Castle Island by six yard patrol craft. The yard patrol craft, homeported in Annapolis, Md., are used to train seamanship skills to U.S. Navy Midshipmen studying at the U.S. Naval Academy. Boston, Mass. (June 25, 2004) - Curator for the USS Constitution Museum, Sarah Watkins, describes the Constitution's rigging to Secretary of the Navy, Gordon R. England and British Ambassador, Sir David Manning during a tour of the museum.
