USS Missouri Measure 32 camo

I asked this question on another website before I found this one.

I have a question regarding this camo. The deck in this camo is painted Ocean Gray and Deck Blue. Would this also be true for all the various fittings on board? In otherwords, looking down from above you only see the wood of the deck these colors while other items would be another gray? Now, in this case, it is not in Measure 32 camo, but it got me thinking about this anyway.

Anyone care to take a stab?

I think theoretically, the tops of fittings would be 5-O or 20B, while the sides would correspond with the nearest hull or superstructure colour.

ALL horizontal surfaces would match the surrounding deck

Some modelers seem to claim creative license and it does have visual interest but is very distant from reality

OK: I get the idea that fittings would match the nearest deck. We all wish USN BBs had camo patterns closer to early war LW fighters or late war Tiger tanks. So we live with gray and blue. However, what about AA guns? The photos above suggest to me that the barrels were black or something gun-like. I've seen some very sweet kits (see Ed McDonald's stunning Washington in the Gallery for example) that have black guns. (So do several color photos of the 20mm Oerlikon on Wikipedia - gray mount, black gun.) I'm not quibbling here. I'm starting the Trumpeter 700 scale Washington and having an idea on the proper color would be helpful - might even change the sequence of construction. (I'm still looking for that perfect Deck Blue color: I thought the Badger version was almost nutty but it does look pretty close to the photos of the Missouri above on this thread.)

These are all photos of Missouri. The camouflage schemes were not set in stone.
If the Captain said he wanted black barrels for some reason, he had black barrels.
